the home stretch!

It never ceases to amaze me, how suddenly Idaho summers transition into fall. The stifling summer heat

continues through most of September, with highs in the 80s or 90s, and then one day fall arrives and doesn’t leave. Tim noted that we never had a single day in the 70s during this year’s seasonal transition – it jumped directly from 80s down into the 50s and 60s.

With this dramatic change in weather comes some dramatic changes in the Schandorff household. We are now less than three months away from our training with MAF, and we are working hard to prepare for it!

We recently had a garage sale, selling a lot of our possessions in anticipation of moving out of our house next winter/spring. We continue to work on the Bible study that MAF is having us do (they require this of many of their incoming staff). We just put out a notice this past week that we are looking for a new home for our dog, since we will not be able to take her with us. And we are trying to get our house and yard in good condition as we prepare to sell our house to Liz’s parents in December – wkaliandjakehich is now just a few short weeks away! This is a busy season for us, as we take care of a lot of the “little” details that will help to prepare us to become missionaries! We are hoping that our hard work now will pay off next year, allowing us to fully devote ourselves to researching the country that we will be assigned to (we are eager to find out where we will go!) and working on building our prayer and financial support team.

In addition to the above, we are also feeling the Lord work in our lives to prepare us mentally, spiritually, and emotionally for what is ahead. The next year or two will be full of transitions, not all of them easy. We will be leaving our jobs, our house, our dog, our possessions, and our comfort zones. A day will come when we get on a plane and say goodbye to our family and friends, and take off for a land we have never seen, to learn a language we know nothing about, and to serve a people we have yet to meet. And yet we know that the Lord is not daunted by these steps, and He is the source of our strength. Every day he draws us closer to Him, and teaches us that He will guide our steps and accompany us on this journey. We are so excited to share this journey with you, too, and would love to hear from you. Blessings!
