Preparing to serve with MAF in Haiti

MAF Timeline

January 2010

2010
In January, we attended “Candidacy,” our introductory training with Mission Aviation Fellowship. It was at this training that we learned about all of the MAF programs around the world and talked with MAF’s interviewing committee about where we might fit in MAF.  We received our assignment to serve in Haiti during this training – just a week after the earthquake in Haiti! Tim was given the job title of Assistant Program Manager for the Haiti program.

For the rest of this year, we will be meeting with many of our friends and family both in Idaho and around the country, to share about our ministry with Mission Aviation Fellowship and invite people to partner with us through prayer and financial giving.  If you are interested in meeting with us, please call or e-mail us.  We are excited about what God is doing through MAF in Haiti and other parts of the world and would love to share those stories with you. We will also attend some additional training at MAF’s headquarters before leaving for French language school.

2009

We worked through the majority of an extensive Biblical study that will give us a better understanding of God’s work today and throughout the last two thousand years.  We spent a lot of time with family, storing up memories for when we go overseas and are apart. We created our mailing list, making sure that we have good information to keep in touch with all of the people who would like to stay informed on our progress with MAF. We found a new home for our dog, had a big garage sale to get rid of many of our possessions, sold our house to Liz’s parents, and moved in with Tim’s parents.

2008

We completed MAF’s application process and underwent comprehensive physicals, to ensure that we are fit to serve even in a remote location, where we could be far from medical assistance. We underwent psychological testing to ensure that we are mentally and emotionally able to serve internationally, in what are often difficult locations. We also went through a series of interviews with MAF’s Candidate Committee. The committee reviewed all of the above pieces of our application process, and officially invited us to attend MAF’s month-long Candidacy training module.

2007

Shortly after Liz began to work at Mission Aviation Fellowship’s headquarters, here in Nampa ID, the Lord began to tug at our hearts and show us that He had a place for us to minister within MAF, as overseas missionaries.
